Arrival at Kathmandu (1,300m)

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our representative of Peaceful Himalaya Trekking at Kathmandu International airport and then you will be transferred to hotel. You can relax for the rest of the day and in the evening you can enjoy dinner with Nepali cultural dance.

Fly to Tumlingtar and drive to Chichila (1,840m)

From kathmandu we take a flight and in around 50 minute we will reach Tumlingtar from Kathmandu. And then we land on a rough grass runway at Tumlingtar. From Tumlingtar, for about 3 hours we drive on a bumpy path which takes us to Chichila.

Trek to Num (1,500m)

From Chichila we will trek to Num. Today we have a rather swift walk all the way through the pleasant villages and fertile mountain forests. An edge line with the gigantic peak views on both side and hanging on the end is known as Num.

Trek to Seduwa (1,540m)

Our way today falls perpendicularly down all the way through the woods and terraced plots of ground takes to Arun River from Num. The area is quite hot and the forest on the gorge sides provides a bit of dark. Makalu National Park begins and we enlist our permits. Camping right at the top of the village.

Trek to Tashigaon (2,070 m)

We, move from Seduwa and climb up the ridge bounded by the Kasuwa Khola to the east and Ipsuwa River on the west. After passing all the way through the hillside and calm villages and we will pass by small paddy pastures, we then reach the village, Tashigaon.

Trek to Khongma (3,560 m)

Departing from Tashigaon our way moves up to reach Khongma. Khongma is the final stop ahead of going across the Shipton La and moving downward in the upper parts of the remote Barun Valley. You will be viewing scrubs and rhododendrons that envelop the lower sections of the mountains.

Cross Shipton La and trek to Debotay (3,650m)

Moving ahead from Khongma we trek to the top of the Shipton La taking few hours. After walking ahead from the lake Kalo Pokhari, we move to the Keke La at an altitude of 4,152m. Amazing views of Chamlang (7,319m), Peak 6 (6,524m), Peak 7 (6,758m) and many more can be witnessed. After going across the Keke La pass, we move downward all the way through the arresting valley to Debotay.

Trek to Yangle Kharka (3,600 m)

We will pass all the way through the Rhododendron forest today which takes us to the Baruni Khola. A hilarious walk will let us gain elevation slowly, until we enter Yangle Kharka which is situated at the base of the valley.

Rest in Yangle Kharka (3,300 m)

To be accustomed with the environment, we will have a rest day at Yangle Kharka and alternatively we can go around the region.

Trek to Mach Kharka (3,800m)

Leaving Yangle Kharka, the trail gradually ascends along the beautiful Barun Valley. The landscape becomes more rugged and alpine, with fewer trees and more open terrain.

You will follow the Barun River upstream, crossing yak pastures and scattered stone huts used by herders. The valley narrows as you move deeper into the remote wilderness, surrounded by towering himalayan peaks.

After a steady climb, you reach Mach Kharka, a peaceful grazing area with basic camping grounds.

Trek to Gyaljen Peak Base Camp (4,500m)

Today’s trek takes you into a more isolated and dramatic high-altitude environment. The trail climbs steadily over rocky moraine and glacial terrain.

As you approach the base of Gyaljen Peak, you’ll be surrounded by stunning himalaya views, including distant glimpses of Mount Makalu and neighboring peaks.

Base Camp is set on a secure and scenic place, ideal for climbing preparation.

Acclimatization and Preparation at Base Camp

This is a crucial rest and acclimatization day at Base Camp.

You will:

  • Practice basic climbing techniques (rope handling, use of crampons, ice axe)

  • Review safety procedures with your guide

  • Make a short acclimatization hike to higher elevation and return

The day also allows you to carefully observe weather conditions and finalize summit plans.

Summit Gyaljen Peak (Approx. 6,000m) and Return to High Camp

An early morning start (often before dawn) begins your summit push. Equipped with climbing gear, you ascend through snow slopes and possibly icy sections depending on conditions.

Reaching the summit of Gyaljen Peak rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views of the eastern Himalayas, including Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu.

After celebrating briefly, you descend carefully back to High Camp or Base Camp depending on timing and conditions.

Trek Back to Debotay (3,650m)

After the summit, you begin your descent, retracing your route down the Barun Valley. The drop in altitude makes breathing easier, and the walk feels more relaxed.

Passing through Mach Kharka and Yangle Kharka, you continue toward Debotay, re-entering areas with more vegetation and forest cover.

Trek Back to Tashigaon (2,070m)

Today involves a long descent, including crossing high passes like Shipton La again (if route requires) and descending through rhododendron forests.

You gradually return to human settlements, and the lush greenery contrasts beautifully with the high alpine terrain you’ve left behind.

Eventually, you arrive at Tashigaon, a traditional Sherpa village, marking your return to lower elevations and warmer climate.

Back to Num.

We will return back over the same trail that we began our trek with. And moving downward to Arun River and Seduwa again we trek through the forest to reach Num. We go following our footsteps all the way back downhill to the river and climb back the reverse side of the valley to Num.

Drive to Tumlintar

Once more we go over our steps to reach Chichila. The final come back of the trek will let us reach to Tumlingtar.

Fly to Kathmandu.

We finish the journey as soon as we take a flight from Chilchila to Kathmandu. We will go back to the hotel in Kathmandu. Optionally, you can stay in the hotel and relax. Or, you can also go around the historical and world heritage sites in Kathmandu that you couldn’t go for on the second day of your trek. Or, you can go around for shopping.

Final departure

You will drive to airport by our representative and take the flight to reach your destination from Kathmandu.
